Organic castor oil is obtained by pressing the seeds of the castor tree (Ricinus communis) which is native to India and Africa. Today, castor trees grow in many other parts of the world, including parts of the Mediterranean, the United States, Mexico and Brazil. Our 100% cold-pressed organic castor oil is a clear liquid that contains high levels of ricinoleic acid. In general, organic castor oil is highly viscous as well as highly soluble in ethanol, which is why it can be used for a multitude of different applications in cosmetics.
