Our 100% organic ashwagandha powder is a fine-textured, yellow to light-brown coloured powder. It tastes bitter, and its slightly nutty aroma is characteristic to that of the ashwagandha root plant. It is derived from the roots of the Withania somnifera plant, and is packed with nutrients, including alkaloids, choline, fatty acids, amino acids, and sugars.
It is native to India's dry regions. Today, the crop is also cultivated in China, Yemen, and Nepal. Consumers also refer to pure ashwagandha powder as 'amukkara powder', 'winter cherry powder', or 'Indian ginseng powder'.
Ashwagandha has been a staple in Ayurvedic medicine for centuries. Health practitioners generally recommend consuming 2 - 5 g per day. It is always advisable to consult with a doctor before consuming nutrient-dense products. For the production of organically certified ashwagandha powder, the roots undergo a series of processes, which include grinding, magnetising, steam sterilisation, safety screenings, packaging, and metal detection.
