Our 100% organic black cumin seeds are obtained from the Nigella sativa plant, have a distinctly intense lemony flavour with caraway notes. They are smaller and thinner in size and darker in colour than regular cumin seeds. When roasted or toasted, their slightly nuttier flavour unfolds, making a sought-after spice.
In Ancient Egypt, the seeds were commonly used for medicinal purposes. The oil was extracted from the seeds and then used to combat or cure a wide range of ailments, including asthma, arthritis, headaches, and toothaches.
