Tapioca starch is derived from the Manihot esculenta plant, often also known as the cassava plant, which is native to West Africa and Brazil. The starch is extracted from the root of the plant. Our 100% organic tapioca (manioc) starch is a light coloured powder with a characteristically neutral smell and flavour. It is an excellent gluten-free thickener for soups, sauces, and gravies; it can also be used to replace wheat flour in baked goods.
